Suniel Shetty urges people to lend support to flood victims in Konkan
Last month, Mother Nature showed her fury as monsoon lashed through Konkan in Maharashtra. The cloud burst leading to a heavy downpour resulted in massive floods in multiple areas. As water gushed through the lanes and by-lanes of Khed, Chiplun, and Mahad in Ratnagiri and Raigad districts, locals witnessed nightmares as their homes submerged in water and even washed away due to landslides.
Seeing the massive loss, Suniel Shetty took to social media urging people to support those who fell prey to nature’s fury. On his Facebook page, the actor wrote, “Our state needs us. For the past few days, there have been unrepentant rains and unprecedented flooding in Raigad and Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. Landslides are also adding to the troubles. Rescue operations are on, but the locals have lost everything. Homes are submerged under 17 ft of water.”
The actor further wrote that he’s teamed up with the Centre For Transforming India (CFTI) to aid the victims. He wrote, “I have tied up with the social organization that does stellar grassroots relief work. They intend to help people in Maharashtra with our support. The money raised in this fundraiser will go to buying groceries, clothes, foodstuff for those affected. Let’s join hands and help. Every rupee, every dollar matters. Donate NOW. THEY NEED OUR HELP!”
CFTI Chairperson Chitralekha Patil expressed her gratitude for the initiative taken by the actor, saying, “This is a time to show solidarity and come in support of the people of Konkan, and so we have started this initiative. I hope a lot of help pours in.”
